Valérie Belin’s project “Black Eyed Susan” combines photographic portraits of models with images of bouquets. The selective colour palettes and 1950s styling add to an unsettling feel of illusion and artifice.

This photo is one of many portraits of criminals from the Sydney Police archives. Considering these photographs were taken by a policeman and photographer in the 1920s, they all look incredibly artistic.
Found via La boite verte, where you can see many more. Also featured in a book called City of Shadows: Sydney Police Photographs 1912-1948.

An artist named Karl Hubenthal created this striking cover for the Los Angeles Press Photographers Association back in 1957. I think it still looks sharp all these years later - I’m particularly loving the clever mosaic styling.
