I’ve recently enjoyed seeing artwork where photographs are used as the foundation for paintings. Charlotte Caron’s portraits are particularly beautifully executed with a mask-like effect.

The artist says that the works “are trying to respond to a form of duality…ultimately creating an osmosis between the two mediums, between the animal and the portrait.”

Méret Oppenheim was a Swiss Surrealist artist - her “Pair of Gloves” caught my eye. I think I would actually wear them. Simple ideas are often the strongest.

What a fabulous poster for TWA by David Klein (he created many great works for them - you can see more here). I love split-style illustrations like these. I also love the way that the sunglasses are being held up in front of the sun - nice touch.

This image is part of a series of ads created by collective NAM for the Harbour City Chocolate Trail (a charity project for the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation).

The way the objects are carefully suspended gives the shot a particularly surreal air.

Rob Mulholland is a Scottish sculptor who created an eerie art installation entitled “Vestige” in the woodland walk at the David Marshall Lodge in Scotland.

The silhouettes are made from Perspex and camouflage into their surroundings whilst also attracting the attention of onlookers.
