arcade fire - interactive video
Arcade Fire has released an interactive video to accompany the track We Used To Wait. The video was created by director Chris Milk, in association with Google Chrome (though it worked just fine when I tried it with Firefox yesterday).
Just enter your childhood address, click search and watch the clever use of pop-ups combine with your information to personalise the video.

man as industrial palace
Fritz Kahn illustrated man as a factory in his well-known 1926 poster, "Man as Industrial Palace", which shows minuscule people operating each body system. Now, designer Henning Lederer has created this impressive animated version, showing the factory at work.

bad apple - stop motion
I'm not a fan of dance music but I am a fan of stop motion. This video was made from 6,566 printed images and plays very cleverly with notions of space.

mameshiba
Imagine the scene: just as you're about to eat, a bean with the face of a puppy appears in your food and dispenses an unusual fact. This is the world of Mameshiba - there are many more of these videos on their Youtube channel. I have watched them all. Via Drawn!

oliver jeffers 'lost and found' - animated

I just saw over at Cartoon Brew that Oliver Jeffers' childrens book 'Lost and Found' has been animated by Studio AKA - to be shown on Christmas Eve on Channel 4. Yay! As if I needed another reason to get excited about Christmas!

beautiful backgrounds

I have always been a huge fan of animation, particularly (and perhaps slightly curiously) backgrounds. All the better if they have a hint of 1950s modernism about them!

There are some great ones from Cartoon Network's Robotboy over at VISUAL PHOOEY! - the blog of Chris Garbutt, who art directed the first series.
